Welcome to the CMTAA website

As those of us who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease are well aware, we have it for life, and at this point in time there is no known cure. The CMT Association of Australia Inc (CMTAA) was established to support those with CMT, their families and friends; and to expand community awareness and understanding of CMT. We are staffed entirely by volunteers.

Significant progress is being made through worldwide collaboration, including establishing CMT support organisations like CMTAA Inc; developing management strategies for those with CMT; and through CMT research.

This website is positioned as a conduit for accessing local and international CMT related information that will assist in answering many of your questions. We invite you to explore the site and welcome your feedback for further improvement.

The CMTAA Inc. Team
"Our aim is to enhance the quality of life for people with CMT and those who care for them."

What's new at CMTAA?

Like other members of the community, people with CMT are treated with medications for a variety of chronic diseases. Some medications have the potential to be neurotoxic, however, for many of these medications the impact of these effects in people with CMT is unknown or unclear.
