2011 Sydney Awareness Day Seminar Sunday September 18
Summary: The Awareness Day Seminar provides the opportunity for us to meet together to hear the latest from leading researchers and developments regarding what is available to help us manage our situation. This year we have a presentation about Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) and most importantly you will have the opportunity to speak with fellow CMT Family members. Attendance at the seminar can be recorded as ‘10 points of unaccredited self recorded CPD’.
VENUE: Clinical Science Building Concord Hospital, Hospital Road Concord NSW
TIME: Registration 8.30am. Seminar commences 9.00am until 3.00pm
Speakers include:
• Professor Garth Nicholson and Associate Professor Marina Kennerson speaking on CMT Research and 3 new CMT genes.
• Associate Professor Joshua Burns speaking on developments in the management of CMT with an emphasis upon the management of CMT in
children.
• A presentation from Don Leigh, Senior PGD Scientist, on Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).
• Karl-Heinz Schott – a certified Pedorthist explaining the role of a Pedorthist and the benefits for people with CMT.
• Interviews with people with CMT who will share their success stories in managing their CMT situation.
• Gerry Fenyo, a qualified personal trainer who sharing successful outcomes for people with CMT.
• The opportunity to ask our panel of speakers questions that they may be able to assist you with.
COST:
$20 per adult and $5 per child (16 years and under). This includes an attendee kit, morning tea and lunch. Parking is conveniently available in the hospital car park opposite the Clinical Science Building for a cost of $5 per day. You will need $5 in GOLD coins.
Please note that at the conclusion of the Awareness Day Seminar the CMTAA will hold their AGM. If you would like to find out about the year’s activities or are interested in becoming involved with the CMTAA please feel free to attend.
